Today they announced the 2009 Hall of Fame ballot. The only obvious pick, not the only one I think should get in but who undoubtedly everyone will agree deserves is Ricky Henderson. But with a weaker class maybe Jim Rice or Alan Trammell can sneak in. It'd be pretty cool to see Tim "Rock" Raines get in, because I think he deserves it, although the reasoning behind that nickname Rock carries some different labels when you consider his cocaine addiction, and how that will affect voters.
The most interesting part of the voting this year should be what to do with McGwire, if they continue to set some precedent with the steroid users making it more difficult for Rafael "I take batting practice, I take fielding practice, I take Viagra...and steroids" Palmeiro, Sammy "It's so real" Sosa and company to get in. It'll be interesting if Raines gets in, will they let a cocaine user in but not a steroid user in the hall, or vice versa?
