All-Star Staind?

It's been a while
Since I could hold my head up high
and it's been a while since I said I'm sorry

That eloquent line from none other than Aaron Lewis of Staind (and TMNT lookalike fame) sums up my apologies for lack of posts recently. This has become a common theme here at BBB: No name blogger posts way too often considering fan base, no name blogger forgets to post with reason considering his lack of fan base, no name blogger apologizes for said lack of posts, no name blogger makes sure to brag about his top posts per fan ratio, no name blogger continues his rapid posting. So, I'm sorry and I'll post more for all 1-2 of my readers (thanks Dev!).

Ok, with that said let's talk about the All-Star selections. Over 60 people get chosen to the game, surely some people are more deserving than others, but largely the fans and then the coaches get it right. But not always. Tim Wakefield has not been one of the best pitchers in the American League, no one with a well educated baseball brain would dispute that, there are over 25 players with better FIPs, but even a Red Sox hater would rather watch a knuckleballer throw a few innings than Kevin Millwood right? Even when they get it wrong, it seems to be alright with me.

It's easy to pick out some bad calls by fans and say that Jason Bartlett deserves to start over Derek Jeter, or that Josh Hamilton hasn't played enough games to merit starting (both legitimate concerns), but fuck it I hardly care. And this is coming from someone who loves to argue things. It's quite stupid that this game "counts" with the fans determine the starting lineups but if the rules state that the fans vote, it's a waste of time bickering over if they got it right or not especially considering that most of the time they do get it right.
