Wild Card Wednesday

On Wild Card Wednesday you have no clue what to expect. I could post about a trade, I could post about a questionable managerial move, I could post about some player trying to go into the opposing team's clubhouse after the game, or I could hardly post at all.

It won't be often that the last choice there is the case, but today it has been. I apologize for that.

Anyways I'll just give y'all some quick thoughts.

When is David Ortiz going to speak about the steroid allegations? The NY Times article hinted at an out that he gave himself when he said he wasn't sure what was in the shakes he got in the Dominican Republic. Considering the DR has a bad rep with steroid users, it's likely he knew exactly what was in those shakes. It's kind of funny that I asked when he'll speak though, because I don't give a shit what he says, just curious what he's waiting for.

Does Eli Manning deserve all that money? I heard on the radio today that sometimes you can't look at stats you just have to look at championships, and Eli has one. I guess that means you gotta pay him more than his significantly better brother. Steve Phillips unsurprisingly agreed, although to his credit he said talent should be most important. Eli Manning's stats are totally pedestrian yet he's getting paid better than anyone in all of the NFL. I understand the Giant have to keep him, but did they have to do it at that price? Derek Jeter had a similar situation except he had already won 4 championships when he got his extension, Eli Manning is lucky to have one.

The Blue Jays have gotten a lot of flack about keeping Roy Halladay recently, even I have taken part in it. Not sure where I'm going with this point, but just know the Jays should have traded him.

Hank Aaron came out and said the 2003 steroid list should come out and that Pete Rose should be inducted into the Hall of Fame. I agree with him on both points. It's illegal for the list to actually come out, but it's also illegal for it to be leaked, so let's just see it already. If Pete Rose gets in the Hall it's not like players are going to now bet cause they think they can get away with it. He's the most competitive player to ever play any sport, I doubt he'd bet on his own team and even if he did whatever it's been long enough, just let him in.
